Today's Fun Fact Louy- Money- this word is commonly used for Money, but in fact it isn't a Khmer word at all. It is derived from a French King, Louis. During the French colonisation, King Louis appeared on all Khmer coins and the people often referred to coins as Louis, or Louy as the pronunciation deteriorated. The proper word for money is in fact Prak, which is the same spelling & pronunciation as Silver in Khmer. |
